Fleas are controlled in many dogs and cats by regular use of Frontline or Advantage. These same dogs and cats are often bathed regularly. Regular bathing may effect the efficiency of Frontline or Advantage. Bathing should be performed with a non-soap based shampoo. The majority of the over-the-counter shampoos are soap based. Medicated shampoos may be necessary to help with skin problems, but these products also decrease the efficiency of Frontline and Advantage. The only shampoo that has been tested to avoid washing off Frontline and Advantage is Allergroom, a non-soap shampoo by Virbac.
