Chewing is without a doubt beneficial on creating healthy mouths in our dogs. The wild dog is required to kill his prey and chew up his dinner. Our bite size dog food decreases the need to chew. The chewing action actually exercises the jaw strengthening the bone structure providing healthier support for teeth. Without regular chewing action the bone structure of the jaw is very weak. The idea chew object is hard and not easily destroyed yet flexible enough that teeth are not fractured and broken. 

Out favorite chew toy for our dogs is the Kong toys. They are available in a number of shapes and designs but no doubt the original shape is still by far the favorite. They are available in the original Kong, blue Kong ( more durable for moderate to heavy chewers) and Xtreme Kong ( for aggressive and destructive chewers) 

While some dogs are natural born chewers and will chew on anything, many dogs do not show any interest in chewing. However, dogs may be trained to chew Kongs. The Kong is designed to stuff your dogs favorite treat inside or use Kong Stuff' and Paste to incite your dog to chew on the Kong. After a while most dogs will chew on the Kong without the addition of treats
